Outcome: Unanimous Verdict.

Ratio decidendi: All-round quality and personal favourite bunch spot in Melbourne.

Salient features: Ricotta Hotcakes ($17.50), Potato Hash ($19),

Scope of discovery: Kim Chi Brisket Milk Bun ($16), Fig & Apricot Toast ($8.50), Flat White ($3.50).

Case note: Monday lunch. Big smiles all round. The ricotta hotcakes and potato hash were the real standouts. Hotcakes were light and fluffy, even more so than Bills in Sydney.


Strands of potato for the hash were almost noodle-like, delicate yet porous enough to soak up all the tasty, tasty gravy on the dish.



Kim chi brisket milk bun was solid, but not on the same level as the other two.


Obiter Dicta: Would have given the Fig & Apricot toast a miss. It was pleasant enough but nothing to write home about – money and calorie budget could have been better spent on another main. Ordering the hotcakes as a ‘dessert’ once done with the savoury dishes would have been a good idea as they’re best eaten quickly while still piping hot.
