Jurisdiction: Dim Sum / Yum Cha

Outcome: Unanimous Verdict

Ratio decidendi: BBQ Pork Baked Bun

Scope of inquiry: Above, Chee Cheong Fun, Har Gao, Siew Mai + 6 others…

Case Note: On a hectic final day in Hong Kong, breakfast at Tim Ho Wan was one of the highlights. In the battle between discipline and my hunger to try everything, the latter prevailed. The end result is what you see below, and the inspiration for this blog’s name.

The BBQ Pork baked bun is Tim Ho Wan’s signature item and with good reason too. I really enjoyed the char siew (unfortunately Australia hasn’t caught up in this respect yet) encased in a melt in your mouth bun.

The other items on the menu were all solid, and would comfortably sit in the top decile of yum cha offerings in Australia.

Obiter Dicta: Well known for being the world’s cheapest Michelin-starred restaurant.
