Outcome: Jury’s still out
Ratio decidendi: One of the better cafes in Crows Nest but clouds of doubt from change in management.
Scope of discovery: Breakfast Burrito ($9.90), The Pope ($9.90)
Case Note: One of the better cafes in Crows Nest. I liked the hint of heat from the jalapenos in the breakfast burrito and would happily order it again with it taken up a few notches. Hard to go wrong with bacon, egg, cheese and salsa in a toasted wrap.
The ‘Pope’ on the other hand probably needs some rethinking. It was really hard to eat without getting hollandaise sauce all over your fingers and the ‘structural integrity’ of the wrap really starts to come apart as you get close to the end. The hollandaise sauce seemed a bit watered down – possibly from the moisture in the spinach.
Obiter dicta: Overheard on a recent visit that there’s been a change of ownership at Fix. Only time will tell whether standards will change.
Hours: Closes at 3pm.
