Jurisdiction: Cafe / American
Outcome: Unanimous Verdict
Ratio decidendi: Heart-stoppingly good cronut burger.
Salient features: ‘Elvis’ burger ($16.50), (glazed, chocolate, jam) brewnuts
Case note: Ground beef patty, Canadian bacon, Gruyere and Mayo sandwiched between a savoury ‘brewnut’ (read: cronut). It tastes exactly how it reads – awesome. The accompanying side of chips were a bit pedestrian but not enough to stand in the way of a unanimous verdict for the main event!
Much like with krispy kremes, I found the classic glazed flavour to be the pick of the sweet brewnuts.
Obiter dicta: Cronut [kroh-nuh t, -nuht] – “…a croissant-doughnut pastry invented and trademarked by Dominique Ansel Bakery in New York City. The pastry is made by frying a laminated dough in grape seed oil. The fried pastry is then sugared, filled, and glazed.”
